When a customer wants fewer emails

Not everyone wants a note every time the sky looks bad. PoolHelm’s answer is narrow on purpose: a customer can switch off the one kind of email that bothers most people, and nothing else changes.

Weather emails carry an unsubscribe link. Every reschedule notice has one at the bottom. A customer who follows it stops receiving weather emails from you — that’s it.

What unsubscribing does not stop:

  • Service reports after every visit.
  • Invoices, and the link to pay them.
  • Payment receipts.

That separation is the whole design. Weather notices are a courtesy; an invoice is business. Somebody who’s tired of storm emails should not accidentally stop receiving their bill, and PoolHelm won’t let that happen by mistake.

If you’d rather nobody got weather emails, don’t wait for them to unsubscribe one at a time — switch “Email customers on weather skips” off under Settings → AI Preferences. Weather skips then become internal and you tell customers however you prefer.

If a customer asks you to stop the service reports too, turn Service Email Enabled off on their customer page. That’s an owner action rather than something they can do themselves, because a service report is proof of work and most customers want it even when they say they don’t.

Texting is separate, and it isn’t on yet. When it launches, customers will reply STOP to opt out and that handling is already built and waiting. See “Text messaging: what’s on now, and what’s coming.”
