Set yourself up as a tech

Many owners service pools on their own routes. Give yourself a second login and you get the field app while keeping your owner account for the business.

Each login has one role. PoolHelm’s flat pricing means a second account costs nothing.

Worth knowing. If you only want to see what your techs see, you don't need a second account. Settings → Team → Preview the tech app walks the real screens against practice data. Nothing is saved or sent — which also means it can't service a real pool.

1. Make an email alias

Every account needs its own email, but not its own mailbox. On Gmail, Google Workspace, or Microsoft 365, add +tech to your address:

  • Your email: pat@bluewaterpools.com
  • Your tech alias: pat+tech@bluewaterpools.com

Mail to the alias lands in your normal inbox. A few providers don’t support this — send yourself a test message first. If it doesn’t arrive, use a free Gmail address instead.

2. Add yourself as a tech

In Settings → Team → Invite Tech, enter your name and phone, use your alias for the email, and enter your home address — that’s what starts your route from your own driveway.

3. Sign in on your phone

Open PoolHelm at the same web address you use on your computer and sign in with the alias. Nothing to download — it runs in your phone’s browser. Add it to your home screen.

You’ll see My Route, today’s stops in order, plus Reports and Settings.

4. Assign yourself stops

Back in your owner account, assign stops in Routes exactly as you would for anyone. They appear on My Route the next morning — or the same day, for changes made on Today.

Good to know

  • Weather alerts reach both accounts, differently. Your owner account gets the decision on Today. Your tech account gets the field version on My Route. During weather, check Today first — that’s where the customer-facing decision lives.
  • Keep the owner account on your computer and the tech account on your phone. No switching.
